Our History
- 1911- Wilbur Miller constructs the first building designated as a Funeral Home West of the Mississippi River in Washington, Iowa.
- 1917- Wilbur Miller dies in the Flu epidemic and the Funeral Home is sold to Charles Woodford of Brighton, Iowa.
- 1924- Charles Woodford dies and Louis A. Jones assumes ownership of the Funeral Home, financially backed by Joseph McElhinney, a local druggist.
- 1944- Louis A. Jones forms a business partnership with his wife, Florence, a licensed mortician herself, and their son Willis.
- 1959- The Jones Funeral Home purchases the Fox Theatre and converts it into a drive-through foyer.
- 1968- Willis C. Jones purchases the Funeral Home from his parents.
- 1979- John F. Moenck and Wayne E. Davis become co-owners of the Funeral Home.
- 1989- John F. Moenck becomes the sole owner after the sudden death of Wayne E. Davis.
- 1996- The Jones Funeral Home merges with the Eden Funeral Home.
- 2005- Martin L. Beenblossom purchases the Jones-Eden Funeral Home.
- 2011- The Jones-Eden Funeral Home celebrates its centennial anniversary.
