Yvonne (Bonnie) Edwards, age 82, of Wayland was called home by her lord and savior, Thursday, December 10, 2009 following a short illness.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, December 15th at the Cottonwood United Methodist Church with Pastor Linda Renken officiating. Visitation will begin noon Monday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Yvonne Elaine Ericks was born March 26, 1927 in Barton County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Roy W. and Mary A. (Pascoe) Ericks. She graduated high school in 1944 in Hoisington, Kansas. Bonnie was united in marriage to Derald F. Edwards on March 10, 1946.

Mrs. Edwards worked side by side with her husband on the Edwards family farm, now a Century Farm, located north of Coppock, Iowa. Together they operated a grade A dairy and shared all farming responsibilities.

Over the years Bonnie held several positions in the surrounding communities; among which include, second and head cook and later LPN in Obstetrics at Washington County Hospital, bookkeeper for Vernon and Lois Richardson at the Frontier Caf?, weigher at Unkrich Elevator outside of Wayland and cook at Parkview Home in Wayland. She was also active with the Wayland Town of Lights and was treasurer for several years.

Mrs. Edwards was well-known as an excellent seamstress providing alterations for several patrons in the Wayland area. She was active in a knitting club and volunteered her time making lap quilts for veterans at the town hall in Wayland.

She was a member of the Cottonwood United Methodist Church and participated in several activities there including Cottonwood United Methodist Women's Organization.

Survivors include one son, William (Bill) F. Edwards and wife Jean of Wayland, one daughter, Cynthia Sue of Berea, Kentucky, one daughter-in-law, Linda Edwards of Wayland, one brother Herbert M. Ericks and wife Billie Jo of Arkansas, nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one step great grandchild.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband Derald in 2004, her son Michael in 2005, her parents, two brothers and one step great grandchild.
