Wilma L. Larson, age 95, of Washington, Iowa, died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the United Presbyterian Home following a lengthy illness.
Private family services will be held at the United Presbyterian Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 2:30 until 4:00 p.m. in the United Presbyterian Home main dining hall. Graveside services will take place at the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Council Bluffs, Iowa on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. A memorial has been established to the United Presbyterian Home. Wilma Louise Larson was born March 11, 1917 in Uehling, Nebraska the daughter of Frank T. and Bertha (Von Seggern) Uehling. She grew up on the family farm and attended Uehling Schools. She graduated from North High School in Omaha, Nebraska. Wilma was united in marriage to Lyle G. Larson on September 12, 1946 in Lincoln, Nebraska. They raised their family in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Wilma served as a WAVE in the United States Navy as a Pharmacist Mate at a hospital in Florida during World War II. She worked as a model in department stores in Lincoln, Nebraska and Chicago, Illinois. She later worked as a Deputy County Recorder in Pottawattamie County before serving as the Pottawattamie County Recorder until her retirement. She retired to Carlsbad, California where she lived for twenty years.
Wilma had resided in Washington, Iowa since 2004, and had resided at the United Presbyterian Home since 2005. Wilma attended the United Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
She is survived by daughter Jane Cuddeback and husband James of Washington; daughter Barbara Hinchcliffe of Los Angeles, California; son Robert Larson and wife Jane of Baytown, Texas; grandson Jeff Cuddeback and wife April of Washington; grandson Jared Cuddeback and wife Beth of West Des Moines; four great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Lucille Johnson, Thelma Baker, and an infant sister, Virginia; and brothers Ray Uehling and Frank Uehling, Jr.
