William J. "Bill" Long, age 73, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Parkview Home in Wayland, following a lengthy illness.

Bill was born on December 27, 1951, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Paul and Pauline (Snyder) Long. He was a graduate of Washington High School and later married Cynthea Kay DeLap.

Bill was a lifelong resident of Washington County. He worked as a shift manager at the Washington Hy-Vee Food Store until his retirement and then worked at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids for seven years. Bill was a member of the H.A.M. Radio Club and enjoyed fishing, crocheting hats for family and friends, and caring for his dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthea Long of Washington, Iowa; son, Michael (Kathy) Long of Florida; stepdaughter, Teri Chick of Washington, Iowa; stepdaughter, Lesa O'Connell of Muscatine, Iowa; along with 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Long; and stepdaughter, Mindy Shaw.
