Vivian Louise Wells, age 98, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Halcyon House in Washington.

Celebration of life services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2017 at the United Church of Crawfordsville with Pastor Jason Collier officiating. Calling hours will begin noon Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening. The family will also receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017 at the United Church of Crawfordsville. Interment will take place at the Crawfordsville Cemetery in Crawfordsville, Iowa. A general memorial has been established. Vivian was born March 14, 1918, in Audubon County, Iowa, the daughter of Wayne V. and Elizabeth (Covalt) Hartzell. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Vivian was united in marriage to Charles Leroy Wells on September 27, 1941.

Vivian was a Registered Nurse for the Washington County Hospital until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of the United Church of Crawfordsville as well as the American Legion Auxiliary and the Republican Women. Vivian has been a resident of Halcyon House since 1999. She enjoyed hard work and reading.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Wells of Winfield, IA; daughter, Louise Schmitz and husband Ron of Crawfordsville, IA; son, Robert Wayne Wells and wife Pat of OK; son, Joseph Michael Wells and wife Jamie of Columbus Junction, IA; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Vivian was preceded in death by her husband in 1981; brother, Richard; sister, Jacque; and two grandsons: Brian Schmitz in 1990 and Rob Wells in 2016.
