Anthony Jay "Tony" Hamilton, age 45, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, June 18, 2012 at his residence following complications with diabetes.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 22, 2012 at St. James Catholic Church. Visitation will begin noon Thursday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 Thursday evening. Private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for an educational fund for Tony's daughters, Allison and Olivia. Tony was born April 1, 1967, in Washington, Iowa the son of Darrell and Gail (Stevens) Hamilton. He attended school in Washington and graduated from Washington High School in 1985. On May 13, 1989, Tony was united in marriage to Chris Coon in Columbus Junction, Iowa.

Tony was a life resident of Washington, Iowa. He worked as a Field Underwriter for Farm and Home Security Mutual Insurance Association in Washington, Iowa. He previously worked for Messer Oil and Farmer's Co-op in Keota where he drove a fuel truck. Tony volunteered many years for the Washington Fire Department and the Washington Rescue Unit. He was a certified diver and had served as Captain on the Fire Department. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and mushrooming. Tony was a wonderful husband and father and especially enjoyed spending time with his daughters and coaching their softball teams.

He is survived by his wife, Chris Hamilton of Washington, Iowa; two daughters, Allison and Olivia Hamilton, both at home; sister, Terri Duffy and husband Kevin of Tonopah, Arizona; one niece Josie Duffy and one nephew Lane Duffy. He is also survived by many extended family and friends.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.
