Tonia Gay (Pearcy) Johnson, age 58, of Brighton, Iowa, passed away at 6:04 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Washington County Hospital, after experiencing a prolonged period of failing health.

Tonia was born on May 10, 1967, in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Robert Wayne and Hazel Kathryn (Howland) Pearcy. She attended high school in Galesburg and later married Bobby Leo Karr Johnson Jr., though the two eventually divorced.

Tonia lived most of her life in Galesburg. She was a dedicated homemaker and worked various retail jobs in Illinois and Iowa. She loved to crochet, and she collected turtle figurines. Most of all, Tonia loved being a grandma. Her nickname was Tonia "turtle" and her family loved buying various turtle gifts, also she quite slow like a turtle.

She is survived by her daughter, Heidi Rãchelle Clark of Peoria, Illinois; daughter, Jessica Marie (Donald) Reed of Peoria, Illinois; son, Sean Michael Johnson of Monmouth, Illinois; daughter, Kylee June Johnson of Brighton, Iowa; five grandchildren: DeVon Michael "DJ" Johnson, Harley James Reed, Keiono Lee Ladendorf, Hazel Marie Reed, Amelia Rosaay Davis; sister, Kimberly (Howard) Seward of Brighton, Iowa; brother, Robert (Fran) Pearcy of Clarksville, Tennessee; brother, James Shepler of Saint Augustine, Illinois, brother, Larry Pearcy of Saint Augustine, Illinois, nephew, Andrew Marshall Pearcy; niece, Ambir Mĩchelle Cookson; and niece, Ivy Leanne Mĩchelle Seward, and step mom, Isabelle Pearcy of Saint Augustine, Illinois.

Tonia was preceded in death by her parents; stillborn son, Kenneth Jordan Johnson; and son-in-law, Waylon Eugene Clark.
