Thomas R. Pohren, age 50, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Monday, August 26, 2019, from complications of Stiff Persons Syndrome.
Celebration of life services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2019 at the Lake Darling Lodge in Brighton, Iowa with Rev. Steve Burns officiating. Calling hours will begin noon Thursday, August 29, 2019, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening. Interment will be private. Tom was born August 24, 1969, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the son of Richard and Kay (Farrier) Pohren. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1987 and from Simpson College in 1991. Tom was united in marriage to Julie Rogers on August 28, 2010. He was previously married to Erin Runyan.
Tom has been a resident of Washington since 2004 and resided in Wayland prior to that. He was a Quality Manager for Nypro until his health forced his retirement.
He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He loved model cars, making Halloween Costumes and attending athletic events. Tom was an avid Iowa Hawkeye, Notre Dame and Dallas Cowboy fan. While in high school, Tom was Student Body Co-President with Phil Greiner and was an All State wrestler.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Pohren of Washington, IA; son, Tristan Pohren and friend Sydney Burnett of Ames, IA; son, Cade Pohren of Washington, IA; stepson, Jacob Hall of Washington, IA; stepdaughter, Savannah Hall of Washington, IA; parents, Richard and Kay Pohren of Pleasant Plain, IA; sister, Katie Six and husband Jeff of Fairfield, IA; sister, Jamie Gust of Pulaski, IA; nephew, Kanon Crawford of Fairfield, IA; niece, Tympest Hora and husband Mitchell of Brighton, IA; mother-in-law, Linda Melton and Dave Orte of Tucson, AZ; father-in-law, David Rogers of Searsport, Maine; 2 brothers-in-law; 1 sister-in-law; many aunts, uncles and cousins and his dogs, Simpson, Bella and Scrappy D.
Tom was preceded in death his grandparents, Pete and Annabelle Pohren and Marion and Tempest Farrier.
