Thomas Michael Kelly, age 75, of Iowa City, Iowa, died Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the VA Hospital in Iowa City.
A Memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends. Thomas was born August 16, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Arthur and Dorothy (Mohr) McGinnis. Following his adoption he was raised by Michael and Phyllis (Wallace) Kelly. He attended school in St. Louis, Missouri.
Thomas served honorably in the United States Marines. He was one of the founding members of the Vets helping Vets organization. He was an over the road truck driver, installed cable TV's, and enjoyed painting.
He is survived by his daughter, Amanda (Scott) Entsminger of Centerville, Iowa; son, Devin Kelly of Iowa City, Iowa; several adopted children; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings, Donna Maul of Fairview Heights, Missouri; Eddie Scholbe of Arnold, Missouri; Joe McGinnis of Missouri; Tim (Matthew) Schriedel of St. Louis, Missouri; Kim (Rudy) Padilla of South St. Louis, Missouri; Laura (Daniel) Pendley of Granite City, Missouri;
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Teresa Terry; and in-laws, Verlin Maul, Charlotte McGinnis and Georgian Scholbe.
