Terrance Francis Gent was born September 26, 1937, in rural Keokuk County, Iowa, and peacefully passed away June 29 ,2025, at the age of 87.

Terry was raised on a farm north of Keota, IA and graduated from Keota High School. Following high school, he met the love of his life, JoAnn Friese, and they were married on February 15, 1958. They began their married life on a Washington County farm and remained there until their five children were grown.

Terry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his children: Kevin Gent (Linda), John Gent (Cathy), Char Brenneman (Rob), Steve Gent (Susan) and Glenda McWilliams (Darryl Carter); 15 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren; sister: Donna Tinnes (Ron) and sisters-in-law: Jane Gent, Winnie Gent, Mary Catherine Escher, Donna Mae Moeller, Marilyn Nebel (Bob), Teresa Friese, Winnie Friese and Connie Waters.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents: Francis and Irma Gent; his wife, JoAnn in 2023; his in-laws: Charles and Mary Friese; his brothers: Richard Gent, Fred Gent and great-granddaughter: Grace Gent.

Visitation will begin 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2nd , at St. James Catholic Church where the family will be present to receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Graveside services will be held 9:30 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2025, at St. Mary's Cemetery in Keota, Iowa. A general memorial has been established. Terry was a devoted farmer and instilled this love of agriculture in his family, many of whom continue to farm the land he cared for throughout his life. In his later years, he could often be found woodworking in his shop, creating requested items to be treasured for many years to come. He enjoyed the challenge of fixing things. Terry also loved the outdoors, especially exploring backcountry Iowa roads and the western region of the US, from the seat of his ATV. He enjoyed visiting with family & friends and he will be remembered for his welcoming manner. His unwavering love and devotion for his family will forever be cherished.
