Teresa was born on April 11, 1962, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Merrill D. and Joan M. (McKee) Hornick. She attended Smith Warren School in Ottumwa.

Teresa lived in Ottumwa for several years before she relocated to Washington, Iowa, where she resided for over thirty years. She later moved to Oskaloosa, where she had lived for the past five years. While in Ottumwa, Teresa worked at Tenco. After moving to Washington, she joined WCDC, where she held several roles throughout the years.

Teresa made friends with everyone she met and always emphasized the importance of being kind to others. She listened to country and gospel music CDs and is fondly remembered for her love of singing, especially the song, “Amazing Grace.” Teresa loved crafting and playing BINGO. She faithfully attended church services at the care center.

Teresa is survived by her brother, Brad (Christina) Hornick of Oskaloosa, Iowa; nephew, Clint Hornick of Kirkville, Iowa; three nieces: Darcy Curtis of Colorado; Carissa Garrettson of Washington; and Mindy Harris of Oskaloosa, Iowa; eight great-nieces and great-nephews; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Chris Hornick, in 2003.
