Susan K. “Sue” Vandenburg, age 79, of Kalona, Iowa, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital.

Private family services will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with interment at Elm Grove Cemetery. A general memorial has been established. Online condolences may be sent for Sue’s family at www.jonesfh.com

Sue was born on July 17, 1946, in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Billy Deahl and Mabel Henderson. She attended school in Centerville, Iowa. Sue was married to Dean Richard Vandenburg.

She lived all of her adult life in southeast Iowa and has resided in Kalona, Iowa, since 1990. Sue worked in the kitchen at Kalonial Townhouse. She enjoyed doing word searches, puzzles and watching game shows. She especially enjoyed the companionship of her pets.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Wanda White of Kalona, Iowa; son, Richard Dean (Melissa) Vandenburg of Kalona, Iowa; daughter, Kathy (Steve) Gerdes of Ainsworth, Iowa; daughter, Peggy Strickler of Faribault, Minnesota; son-in-law, Tom Moeller; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and multiple brothers and sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy Deahl and Mabel Thompson; daughter, Linda Moeller; sons-in-law, Lee White and Ron Strickler; and a number of brothers and sisters.
