Steven Gerard Schneider, age 71, of Wellman, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Parkview Manor in Wellman.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2024, at St. James Catholic Church in Washington, Iowa. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain. Online condolences may be sent to Steven's family at www.jonesfh.com .

Steven was born January 2, 1953, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Melvin Francis and Loretta Cecilia (Fritz) Schneider. He was a graduate from the Iowa School for the Deaf, located in Council Bluffs.

Steven worked at Goodwill and the Washington County Developmental Center. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church for many years. Steven always had a smile on his face. He loved fishing, riding on the four-wheeler, participating in the family baseball games, and playing cards with his loved ones.

Steven is survived by his four aunts: Mary Ellen Alberhasky, Irene Schneider, Vernita Schneider, and Winifred Fritz; along with one nephew and many cousins.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin in 2006 and Loretta in 2011; and two sisters, Maribeth Geralyn Schneider and Nancy Miller.
