Obituary

Stephen Craig Stout, age 70, of Washington, Iowa, died Saturday, April 11, 2020, at the Halcyon House in Washington, Iowa.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the family will not be having a public memorial at this time.

Celebration of life services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a general memorial has been established and the Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent for Steve's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com .

Steve was born, April 16, 1949, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Jesse Lloyd and Bonnie L. (Elmore) Stout. He attended school in Ainsworth and graduated from Highland High School in 1967. Steve was united in marriage to Penney Long on March 15, 1969, and they had three sons. The couple later divorced.

Following high school Steve served in the Iowa National Guard and later joined the United States Navy Reserves. He served in active duty during Desert Storm. Steve lived most of his life in Washington County. He worked in sales all of his life. He owned and operated the Captain's Table in Washington for a number of years.

Steve was a member of City Point Church and was very active in Casa Hogar orphanage in Manzanillo, Mexico. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's many activities. Steve enjoyed watching movies at the State Theater, enjoyed golfing and spending time working in his yard.

He is survived by his sons: Craig Stout of Washington, Iowa; Jason Stout of Washington, Iowa; and Matthew Stout of Waverly, Iowa; four grandchildren: Parker Stout, Kyle Stout, Zacary Stout and Reagan Caffery. He is also survived by one brother, Lloyd Stout and wife Lustella of Mississippi.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; son, Martin Stout; and brother, Doug Stout.
