Sikke David Temple, age 95, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, June 1, 2018, at Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction after failing in health for the past eight months.

Celebration of life services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington with Rev. Bill Warhover officiating. Calling hours will begin 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the United Presbyterian Church where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Interment with military honors will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the United Presbyterian Church or the Alzheimer's Association. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Sikke was born May 27, 1923, in Washington, Iowa, the son of David W. and Wiebrie S. (Brewer) Temple. He graduated from Washington High School in 1941 and attended Iowa State University. Sikke was united in marriage to Beulah Evelyn Stewart on March 24, 1945, at her parent's home in Washington, Iowa, which is now part of the United Presbyterian Home.

Sikke was a life time resident of Washington County where he farmed in Dutch Creek Township. He was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church in Washington; he served as an Elder and Deacon. He served many years as Dutch Creek Township Trustee. He enjoyed woodworking, attending farm sales and collecting clocks. Sikke served honorably from 1942 until 1945 in the United States Army 87th Infantry Division and later in the Army Air Corps.

He is survived by his wife, Beulah Temple of Washington, Iowa; ten children: son, Bruce Temple and wife Janette of Ainsworth, Iowa; daughter, Mary Margaret Temple of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Barbara Cozad and husband Dennis of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; son, Timothy Temple of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Katie Temple and husband Al Reeve of Runnells, Iowa; daughter, Evelyn Greiner and husband Francis of Keota, Iowa; son, Jeff Temple and wife Shirley of Crawfordsville, Iowa; son, Peter Temple and wife Marty of Defiance, Iowa; son, Warren Temple and wife Sheila of Keota, Iowa; daughter, Dr. Beth Temple and husband John Kirk of Rock Island, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Jo Temple of Des Moines, Iowa; 24 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Sikke was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Dr. David Temple.
