Shirley Lucille Sines, 94, of Washington, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the United Presbyterian Home. Shirley was born September 30, 1929, in Newton, Iowa, the second of ten children to A.A. (Landy) and Lucille (nee Miller) Rupe. After graduating from Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, Iowa Shirley met Hubert Sines from Centerville, Iowa. On November 21, 1951, they were united in marriage. Together they were proud to have raised two sons: Lynn (Kristi) of Nashville, Tennessee, and Brian of Winona, Minnesota. For many years, they operated the Sines Insurance Agency in Washington.

Shirley was an avid gardener and decorator. She was born with a green thumb and enjoyed caring for her many plants inside and outside her home. She was a loyal fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and especially enjoyed Hawkeye football and the men's and women's basketball games. She enjoyed meeting friends for coffee and was generous with her time when someone needed assistance. She was devoted to her family and doted on her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, four grandchildren, Justin Sines of Washington, Nikki (Edgar) Gutierrez of Jefferson City Missouri, Tyler Schuck of Vermillion, South Dakota, and Cody (Meghan) Schuck of Quantico, Virginia, and two great-grandchildren Stella Lucille Gutierrez and Elliana Schuck. Her sister, Karen Caraccio of Des Moines, and brothers Gerald and Roger Rupe of Bloomfield.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
