Shirley K. Miller, age 70, of Washington, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a lengthy illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Rick Zickefoose officiating. Calling hours will begin 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2nd, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Shirley was born December 28, 1948 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of James Marion "Moon" and Beatrice (Wilson) Shafer. She attended school in Washington. Shirley was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Joe Miller on December 31, 1966, in Washington, Iowa.

Shirley worked at the Washington Café and for the United Presbyterian Home as a housekeeper. She was a member of the VFW. Shirley enjoyed shopping and collecting Elvis Presley memorabilia. She loved her cats and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Angie and husband Mark Bringman of Washington, Iowa; son, Michael Miller and wife Karrissa of Washington, Iowa; son, Jeff Miller of Washington, Iowa; six grandchildren: David, Ashley, Harley, MacKenzie, Charleigh and Daniea; sister, Peg Redlinger and husband Tom of Keota, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband in August 2018; two brothers: John "Butch" Shafer and Don Shafer; and five sisters: Sevillia Bixby, JoAnn Helfrich, Mary Lou Knebel, Betty Shafer and Virginia Shafer.
