Shirley Ann Lucas, age 95, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Halcyon House following a short illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Darren Brown officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Shirley was born March 12, 1928, in Lenox, Iowa, the daughter of William Edward and Alma Marie (Reed) Becherer. She graduated from Sharpsburg High School and attended the Omaha School of Business. Shirley was united in marriage to Charles Joseph Lucas on October 21, 1950, in Lenox, Iowa.

Shirley has lived in Washington, Iowa, since 1959, where she was a homemaker and provided in home daycare for over twenty years. She was a member of the First Christian Church where she was active in organizing funeral luncheons and communion services. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed reading and traveling.

She is survived by her son, Richard (Pat) Lucas of Algona, Iowa; son, Gregory (Nina-Jo) Lucas of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter, Susie Lucas of Washington, Iowa; five grandsons: Jeff (Amanda) Lucas; Jay Lucas; Joe (Felicia) Lucas; Cameron (Jessica) Reed; and Jameson Reed; nine great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Roberta Dostal of Clinton, Iowa.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Gene Becherer; and sister, Wilma Cohrt, all in 2008
