Shirley Elaine Kleineberg, age 77, of Washington died at her home, Friday, December 11th, following a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her family at her passing.
Celebration of her life will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, December 15th at the Jones Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Julie Poulsen officiating. Visitation will begin noon Monday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Monday. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. Shirley was born July 8, 1932 in Tipton, Iowa the daughter of Harvey L. and Myrna (Rife) Allen. She graduated from Wellman High School in 1951. On October 1, 1952, she married the love of her life, Ronald Lee Kleineberg at the Methodist Church in Wellman.
Shirley and Lee made there home outside Washington where they had their children, Sherry, Eddie, Mary and Duane. They moved to town on December 6, 1966. Shirley worked at Ross Manufacturing. She later became a CNA and worked at the Washington Care Center and the McCreedy Home.
Shirley enjoyed fishing and motorcycling with her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids. She was a bit of a daredevil, having suffered many bruises and broken bones participating fully in their activities. She was an ambitious crocheter and made many beautiful items for her family and friends. She could always be found with a full coffee pot and time to visit with friends around her kitchen table.
Surviving are her children, daughter Sherry Massey and husband Keith of Crawfordsville, Iowa; son Edward Kleineberg and wife Fran of Crawfordsville, Iowa; daughter Mary Jo Kleineberg of Sigourney and son Duane Kleineberg and wife Rhonda of Winfield, Iowa; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Jenny Miller and special friend Bill Wyncoop of West Chester, Iowa; half brother John Allen and wife Lisa of Wellman, Iowa; half sister Kathy Eaton of Richmond, Iowa; half sister Joyce Holland of Texas, half sister Bonnie Crawley of Tennessee, and half sister Sally Allen of Des Moines, Iowa. She will also be missed by her faithful dog Boo Boo.
Shirley will be welcomed into heaven by her husband, mother and father, step mother - Ruth Allen, half sister Karen Allen and many other family and friends.
Shirley will be missed and fondly remembered by everyone who had the opportunity of knowing this beautiful lady. We thank God for the opportunity of having her in our lives.
