Sarah Jane Goodwin, age 63, of Washington, died Friday, June 8, 2012 at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Fr. Marty Goetz officiating. Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Tuesday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery. Sarah was born March 5, 1949 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of William J. and Dorthea (Beatty) McDole. She attended school in Washington, Iowa and graduated from Washington High School. On March 16, 1968 she was united in marriage to Ray E. Goodwin in Washington, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1988.

Sarah was a life resident of Washington, Iowa. She worked at McCleery Cumming Company for twenty years and later worked at Modine Manufacturing until health forced her retirement. She was an AVON Representative for many years. Sarah was a member of the Washington Genealogical Society. She enjoyed gardening, genealogy, attending car shows, having coffee with friends and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by three children; son Jeff Goodwin and wife Angie of Richmond, Iowa; daughter, Amy Schulte and husband Dan of Keota, Iowa; son, B.J. Goodwin and friend Michelle McCarty of Washington, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Ryann Riggan, Kaleb Goodwin, Baylee Goodwin, Abby Schulte, Jillian Schulte, Jaime Schulte, Malachi Goodwin, Max Goodwin, Lilly Goodwin and Emma Goodwin; mother, Dorthea McDole; sister, Ruth Ann Gugel and husband Donnie of Washington, Iowa; and friend Rick Coon of Muscatine, Iowa.

Sarah was preceded in death by her father, Bill McDole; husband Ray Goodwin, and brother Joe McDole.
