Santos Villalobos Perez, age 65, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at the Washington County Hospital following a short illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Jim Cluney officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home Services will be livestreamed on the Jones & Eden Funeral Home Facebook page. Santos was born August 10, 1956, in Elgin, Texas, the son of Pedro and Rosa (Villalobos) Perez. He attended school in Whitharral, Texas, graduating from Whitharral High School in 1974. Santos was united in marriage to the love of his life, Judy Kay Searcy on December 6, 1979, in Texas.

Santos moved to Washington, Iowa, in 1996, where he was a truck driver for Builders Transportation Company in Iowa City. He later worked at Rockwell Collins in Coralville, Iowa, for 15 years until his retirement in 2013. Following his retirement he worked at Sundown Oil in Texas, for a year before returning to Iowa. Santos enjoyed refinishing furniture, cooking and tinkering with things. He had a knack for fixing things. Santos enjoyed the outdoors and especially enjoyed his favorite pastime – fishing. He enjoyed cook outs with his family and bonfires, most mostly just enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Perez of Washington, Iowa; son, Fred Ballard and wife Cristi of West, Texas; daughter, Amy Ballard Shelton and husband Albert of Itasca, Texas; son, Chris Perez and wife Amber of Aquilla, Texas; daughter, Crystal Perez and fiancé, Justin Evans of Washington, Iowa; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by five siblings: brother, Pedro Perez and wife Sarah; sister, Pauline Perez Bustamante and husband Joe; sister, Rosa Perez Hyland and husband Bill; sister, Ofelia Perez and husband Carlos; sister, Mary Perez Bustamante and husband Steve; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Santos was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers: Juan, Raymond and Jose Perez.
