Obituary

Sandra "Sandy" Jones, age 72, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, September 20, 2013, at the Sunrise Terrace Nursing Home in Winfield, Iowa, following a brief illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with services conducted by Pastor Ed Spencer. Calling hours will begin 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. Interment will take place at a later date. Sandy was born January 2, 1941, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde "Cap" and Amy Thelma (Dawson) Knight. She was raised by her mother and step father, Clyde "Dunny" Little. Sandy attended school in Brighton, Iowa.

In her early years she worked at the Mental Health Institute in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She enjoyed working at Hy-Vee Food Store in Washington for a number of years. Sandy volunteered at Camp REECE and was a foster parent for several children. She loved raising German Shepherds and training them. Sandy loved going out to eat and singing Karaoke. She especially enjoyed being involved in the lives of her children and providing a welcoming environment for many people to enjoy and call home.

Sandy is survived by son, Rick Nebel and wife Vicki of Wayland, Iowa; son, Gordy Nebel and wife Tammy of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Brandi Monaghan and husband Chris of Morning Sun, Iowa; son, Ryan Gustafson and fiancé Mandi of Washington, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Gary Knight and wife Barb of Atlanta, Georgia; sister, Virginia Gleason of Pleasant Plain, Iowa; brother, Terry "Speedy" Knight of Washington, Iowa; and sister, Toni Barnes and husband Tim of Keota, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her step father, and one brother, Larry Knight.
