Sandra Jean Rich, age 84, of Washington, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022, in Washington, Iowa.

Sandra was born November 11, 1937, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Loretta (Morgan) Matz. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School where she was the class Valedictorian. Sandra furthered her education at Mt. Mercy College in Cedar Rapids where she received her degree in nursing. She was united in marriage to Ronnie Rich on September 5, 1958.

Sandra lived most of her married life in Washington, Iowa. She was employed by the Washington Community School District as a nurse. She previously worked as a Registered Nurse at the Washington County Hospital and Prairie Flower School. Sandra enjoyed reading, playing cards, and doing crosswords. She especially enjoyed her time spent at Lake Odessa and attending her families many events. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Ron Rich; son, Brett Rich and wife Sue; son, Matt Rich and wife Maryjo; daughter-in-law, Janet Rich, all of Washington, Iowa; 8 grandchildren: Kelsey, Kassey, Kaleb, Trevor, Hannah, Morgan, Mason and Makenna; and 9 great grandchildren: Makenyn, Krew, Kysen, Ada, Paisley, Jentry, Granger, Oliver and Nora. Sandra is also survived by her four siblings: Ron Matz and wife Janet of Dubuque, Iowa; Jim Matz of Sacramento, California; Linda Ruggeberg and husband Craig of Arlington, Texas; and Mike Matz and wife Deb of Greeley, Colorado; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Scott Rich.
