Samantha K. York, age 26, of Wayland, Iowa, died Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

Celebration of life services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the First Assembly of God in Washington, Iowa, with Pastor Dave Watson officiating. Calling hours will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9th, 2023 at the church with family present to receive friends from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery. Samantha was born September 2, 1996, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Jeffrey and Sarah (Sallee) York. She graduated from Washington High School in 2015.

Samantha lived all of her life in the Washington and Wayland area. She enjoyed getting together with family, along with fishing and mushroom hunting. Ultimately, her main focus in life was her beautiful daughter, Sophia.

She is survived by her daughter, Sophia Jean Sayre of Wayland, Iowa; fiancé, Austin Sayre of Wayland, Iowa; mother, Sarah (Larry) Dickerson of Washington, Iowa; father, Jeff York of Washington, Iowa; brothers, Jacob Stoltzfoos of Iowa City, Iowa, and Tyler (Tiffiany) York of Washington, Iowa; niece, Eleanor York of Washington, Iowa; step-sisters, Lakresha Darvin of Mesa, Arizona, Lara Dickerson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Linzey Dickerson of Washington, Iowa; maternal grandparents, David and Sally Sallee of Wilton, Iowa; and grandfather, Willard Hawkins of Columbus Junction, Iowa.

Samantha was preceded in death by her grandmother, Jeannie Hawkins; and paternal grandparents, Curt and Shirley York.
