Ryan Christopher Rich, age 46, of Brighton, Iowa, died Sunday, December 17, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington. The family will be present to receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the Sandy Hook Cemetery in Brighton, Iowa. Ryan was born August 13, 1971, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Robert Duane Sr. and Rita (Sojka) Rich. Ryan attended school at WACO and graduated from Washington High School in 1990. He was married to Angela Hawley.

Ryan was a life resident of the Brighton Community. He had previously worked at Blue Bird in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and for the past ten years, he worked at EPC in Kalona, Iowa. Ryan owned and operated Richies Roost in Brighton, Iowa, for several years. He was the truck driver/banker for Rider Sales during RAGBRAI week for the past 15 years.

Ryan had many interests including deer hunting, mushrooming, golfing, off-road jeeping, playing pool and he loved to fish. He was an avid pool player and an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. He was a Life Boy Scout.

He is survived by his son, Matthew Ray Rich of Wellman, Iowa; step-daughter, Ashley Hawley-Bontrager and husband Justin of Naples, Florida; mother, Rita Stogdill and husband Rodney of Wayland, Iowa; brother, Robert Duane "Rob" Rich Jr. and wife Crystal of Brighton, Iowa; one niece, Ashley Rubenstein and husband Cory of New Zealand; one nephew, Nicolas Rich of Iowa City; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ryan was preceded in death by his father in 1995, maternal grandparents – Ray and Doris Sojka, and paternal grandparents – Pete and Jane Rich.
