Ruth Marie Arbogast, age 87, of Washington, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.

Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2024, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the Sandy Hook Cemetery in rural Brighton, Iowa. Ruth was born November 24, 1936, in Brighton, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Alice (Wieneke) Lowe. She attended country school and later graduated from Brighton High School. Ruth was united in marriage to Charles W. Arbogast on August 6, 1956, in Brighton, Iowa.

While Chuck was in the service, they lived in Rhode Island. They moved to Wayland, Iowa, and then spent most of their time living on a farm southeast of Brighton. Following their retirement, they moved to Washington in 1997. Ruth worked at McCleery Cumming Company for over twenty years. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, canning and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Arbogast of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Lynn (Rick) Engle of Washington, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Cyndi Arbogast and significant other, Kim Foreman of Washington, Iowa; three grandchildren: Jake Engle, Rylee Duncan and Jenna (Trent) Curley; as well as two great grandchildren: Isley Duncan and Lukah Duncan. Ruth is also survived by two brothers, Charles (Wanda) Lowe of Washington, Iowa; and Glenn Lowe of Brighton, Iowa.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Doug Arbogast; and siblings, Delbert (Violet) Lowe, Duane (Marie) Lowe, Roy (Frances) Lowe, Sarah (Craig) Morgan, Merna Derby and sister-in-law, Francine Lowe.
