Roy E. Schillerstrom, age 77, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Fairfield, Iowa, passed away, Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the Accura Healthcare Center in Baxter, Iowa.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa, with Pastor Colton Clay officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning. General calling hours will be held from noon until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the Upper Richwoods Cemetery, Northeast of Fairfield, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Grace Community Church in Washington or Lending Hands Adult Day Care in Washington. Roy was born on October 30, 1940, in Fairfield, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Edith (Hendricks) Schillerstrom. He grew up on the family farm eight miles northeast of Fairfield. He enjoyed caring for the livestock, working the soil and bringing in the crops, helping neighbors with bailing and going to farm sales.

His recent interests were the friends and support of Grace Community Church and the staff of Optimae Life Services. He especially enjoyed spending time at Lending Hands Adult Day Care Center. Roy liked music, especially Country and old Christian Hymns, playing cards, doing plastic canvas needlework, and watching Western movies.

He is survived by his sister, Mary (Oren) Jarvis of Washington, Iowa; guardian, Marcy Murphy of Brighton, Iowa; brother-in-law, Floyd West of Fairfield, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Darlene Schillerstrom of Batavia, Iowa. Roy is also survived by half-sisters, Jean Meiners of Ottumwa, Iowa; Jolene Elmore of Texas; Joni Rollinger of Decorah, Iowa; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob in 1997; and sister, Elizabeth West in 2016.
