Rose Marie Streff, age 68, of Washington, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital following a brief illness.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa. Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. A general memorial has been established. Rose was born on May 3, 1957, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Gerald and Annie (Peck) Smith. She graduated from Keota High School in 1975. On May 3, 1977, Rose was united in marriage to David Streff in Washington, Iowa.

Rose worked at various restaurants in Washington before beginning employment with the Washington Evening Journal. She later worked for the City of Washington as a meter reader until her retirement. Rose loved going on walks and doing puzzles. She took great care of her dog, Pearl, and was a fan of country music.

She is survived by her daughter, Christina (Dustin) Hulme of Washington, Iowa, and sister, Dixie Smith of Clear Lake, Iowa.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David, in 2021; and son, Eric Richard Streff, in 2020.
