Ronald D. Kaufman, age 80, of Wellman, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospital following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2022, at the United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Erin Kaye officiating. Calling hours will begin 12:00 p.m. Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Sunday. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa, with a luncheon following at the United Presbyterian Church. Ron was born June 15, 1942, in rural Wayland, Iowa, the son of Archie and Mary Lou (Goodwin) Kaufman. Ron attended Prairie Flower School through eighth grade and graduated from Kalona High School in 1960. He was united in marriage to Serena Bender on October 13, 1968, in Washington, Iowa.
Ron lived most of his life in Washington County. Following high school, Ron worked for Goodwin House Moving. He later farmed and also worked as a mechanic at Farmer Supply Company in Kalona. Following his retirement from farming, Ron worked at the University of Iowa until 2007. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Washington and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Sports fan. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and attending their many events.
He is survived by his son, Gary Kaufman and wife Pamela of Hiawatha, Iowa; son, Jeff Kaufman and wife Melissa of Kalona, Iowa; daughter, Angie Truitt and husband Casey of Kalona, Iowa; nine grandchildren: Zach (Autumn) Kaufman, Jake Kaufman and fiancé Ashley Espinosa, Sarah Kaufman, Alex (Adam) Clark, Andrew Kaufman, Ariel Kaufman, Jarrett Truitt, Kaylee Truitt and Logan Truitt; and two brothers, Wayne Kaufman and wife Rebecca of Washington, Iowa; and Louis Kaufman and wife Liza of Urbandale, Iowa; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Donna Kaufman.
