Rollene Roberts, age 80, of Washington, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017 at her home.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. Calling hours will begin noon Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home, where family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Interment with military honors will be held at West Chester Cemetery. Rollene was born December 3, 1937 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the daughter of Francis and Nina (Knight) Holmes. In 1956 she enlisted in the United States Air Force (WAF). She met her husband, Carl E. Roberts of Keota, when she was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base. They married in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where they resided after leaving the Air Force.

In 1966, the couple moved to Keota and adapted to farm life. They then moved to West Chester in 1971. Carl passed away in 1990 and Rollene relocated to Washington in 2002. Rollene worked at the University of Iowa for 27 years. After retiring, she worked for Hy-Vee and Walmart. Rollene enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children: Kathy Deao of Washington, IA; Randy Roberts of Melbourne, FL; and Laurie (Thomas) Bean of Columbus Junction, IA; grandchildren: Shawn Roberts, Shannon Parker, Aaron Deao, Adam Deao, Josh Bean, Rachel Bean and Paige Roberts; and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; son, John Roberts; and son-in-law, Darrel Deao.
