Roland "Steb" W. Stebbins, 94, of Rockford, Illinois, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at his home.

Private graveside services with military honors will be held Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established to Visiting Nurses Association Hospice at 4223 East State Street, Rockford, Illinois 61108. The Jones-Eden Funeral Home is assisting with local arrangements. Steb was born May 13, 1918 in Des Moines, Iowa. He married Sheila Ross on May 13, 1951.

He was a Navy veteran and was employed by the Rockford Chamber of Commerce before retiring in 1983. He was a lifelong member of Kiwanis International. He had a special place in his heart for his great-grandchildren, and his family was very important to him.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Brian and wife Pattie of Southlake, Texas; one daughter, Diane Stout and husband Charles of Rockford, Illinois; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Robert Ross and wife Kathryn; and one sister-in-law, Josie Ross of Washington, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Scott; and two brothers, Dwayne and Harold.
