Roberta Jane Skinner, age 80, of Wellman, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital – Downton, under hospice care.

Celebration of life services will be held at a later date, with interment at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. A general memorial has been established. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent for Roberta’s family at www.jonesfh.com.

Roberta was born on June 12, 1945, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Meeker and Novella (Robertson) Hess. She attended Mid-Prairie High School. On November 16, 1963, Roberta married Stanley R. Skinner.

Roberta was a lifelong resident of Washington and was the owner of her own upholstery business, Skinner Upholstery, for many years.

She is survived by her four children: Steve Skinner of Wellman, Iowa, Becky Skinner of Wellman, Iowa, Kristy (Travis) Roth of LeGrange, Indiana, and Sharon Engel of Brighton, Iowa; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and sister, Jerolyn Corpman of Brighton, Iowa; along with three nieces and two nephews.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Meeker and Novella Hess; husband, Stanley Skinner; and brother, James Hess.
