Robert G. "Bob" Vayan, age 67, of Washington, Iowa, died Saturday, April 11, 2015, at All American Care in Washington following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Fr. Bernie Weir officiating. Calling hours will begin noon Wednesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Bob was born January 16, 1948, in Germany. He was the son of Robert Edmond and Emma Louise (Kraus) Vayan. He moved to the United States at age seven and attended school in Trumble, Connecticut. Bob was married to Linda Taylor in October of 1976. They later divorced. He was later married to Lisa Bohlen in 1991 and they divorced in 1993.
Bob worked at Autozone in Washington for 12 years until health forced his early retirement. He previously worked for the Department of Transportation for 14 years. Bob served in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam. He enjoyed spending time outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching a good thunderstorm.
He is survived by his son, Michael Vayan and wife Lucreita of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter, Aimee Vayan of Wayland, Iowa; daughter, Stacee Vayan of Wayland, Iowa; six grandchildren; mother, Emma Vayan of Monroe, Connecticut; brother, Edmond Vayan of Monroe, Connecticut; brother, John Vayan of Rocky Mountain, Virginia; brother, Bill Vayan and wife Mary Lou of Sandy Hook, Connecticut; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Babycos and husband Bob of Huntington, Connecticut.
Bob was preceded in death by his father and one grandson, Robert Michael Vayan in 2003.
