Robert Paul Nardy, Sr., age 86, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018, at his home after a battle with cancer.

Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Father Bernie Weir officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning. Interment with military honors will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery. Robert was born July 11, 1932, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Leo and Antoinette (Bernocchi) Nardy. He graduated from Washington High School in 1950, and attended one year at Washington Junior College and one year at the University of Iowa. After college, Robert served honorably in the United States Air Force for four years. He was united in marriage to Carrol Drayfahl on October 20, 1973, in Washington, Iowa.

Robert purchased The Chocolate Shop from his father which he owned and operated until 1972. He owned and operated the Sportsmans Lounge in Washington for several years and was the Manager of the Radiator Division at Perfex. In 1980, Bob and Carrol moved to Mt. Carroll, Illinois, where Bob was the manager of Thermogas. Following his retirement, they returned to Washington, Iowa in 1994. Bob loved hunting, fishing, boating, and camping. He also enjoyed riding snowmobiles and motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife, Carrol Nardy of Washington, IA; granddaughter, Jesse Jo Nardy of Tallahassee, FL; and beaucoup family.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Nardy, Jr. in 2016; brother, Ed Nardy; and sister, Patricia Norman.
