Robert LeeRoy Smithburg, age 58, of Clarence, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025, in Clarence.

The family will be present to receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. A general memorial has been established. Robert was born April 30, 1966, in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born to Robert and Sharon (Milford) Ruggles but was later adopted by Donald Smithburg and raised by Sharon and Donald. He attended school in Washington, Iowa.

Robert worked many years in the tuckpointing and construction business. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering with projects, and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. His favorite saying was, "Imagine that!" Robert loved the companionship of his four-legged family members, AWOL and Chloe.

He is survived by his son, Derek Lee Hiller of What Cheer, Iowa; daughter, Staci Knerr of Shelbina, Missouri; four grandchildren; and eight siblings: Bobby Ruggles, Danny Ruggles, Lisa Ruggles, Kris Ruggles, Mark Ruggles, Amanda Jones, Jason Ruggles and Dakota Ruggles. Robert is also survived by special friends Glenn (Trisha) Cook and Glenn Sherwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Sharon Smithburg; and his biological dad, Robert Ruggles.
