Robert Joe "Bob" Miller, age 75, of Washington, Iowa, died Saturday, August 4, 2018, at his residence in Washington after failing in health.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. Calling hours will begin 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 7th, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Interment with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 29 will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Robert Joe Miller was born February 14, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Howard and Flossie (Biswell) Miller. He attended country school in Washington County and later attended public school in Washington. He was united in marriage to Shirley Shafer on December 31, 1966, in Washington, Iowa.
Bob lived most of his adult life in Washington, Iowa. He was a self employed roofer and ran a scrap metal and recycling business for many years. He also owned and operated a flea market in Washington for several years. Bob served honorably in the United States Army for twenty years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 29 and the Disabled American Veterans. Bob enjoyed collecting treasurers, looking for rocks and geodes, and sharing war stories with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Miller of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Angie and husband Mark Bringman of Washington, Iowa; son, Michael Miller and wife Karrissa of Washington, Iowa; son, Jeff Miller of Washington, Iowa; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Sue Dagenheart and brother, Rick Miller both of St. Louis, Missouri.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gene Miller.
