Robert Allen Lynde, age 91, of Aiken, South Carolina, formerly of Washington, Iowa, passed away, Sunday, March 31, 2024, in Aiken.

Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Ainsworth Community Church with Pastor Jason Collier officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for the Ainsworth Community Church or Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity ( www.iowavalleyhabitat.org ). Robert was born October 4, 1932, in Peterson, Iowa, the son of Allen Lee and Lyla M. (Hill) Lynde. He attended school in Peterson, Iowa, graduating from Peterson High School. On June 20, 1951, Robert was united in marriage to Donna McNeil in Windom, Minnesota.

Robert has lived in Washington, Iowa, since 1973 where he worked as a Maintenance Supervisor at Cargil until his retirement. Following his retirement, Robert worked for five years at Halcyon House in the Maintenance Department. He was a member of Ainsworth Community Church and the Masonic Lodge. Robert moved to Aiken, South Carolina, in March of 2023, to live with his daughter.

He is survived by his son, Mickey (Kathy) Lynde of Panora, Iowa; daughter, Teresa "Jo" (Ted) McMurtrie of Aiken, South Carolina; son-in-law, Leo Laughlin of Pella, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Lynde of Rapid City, South Dakota; and sister, Virginia Pennell of Hill City, South Dakota.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna in 2014; daughter, Carol Laughlin in 2020; and two sisters, Barbara Pennel and Verna Heckert.
