Robert C. "Bob" Jacobs, age 68, of Ainsworth, Iowa, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
Celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Collier officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City, Iowa. Bob was born May 16, 1949 in Washington, Iowa, the son of Robert Junior and Hazel Virginia (Keller) Jacobs. He graduated from Washington High School. Bob was united in marriage to Dorothy Fincher on September 14, 2002 in Ainsworth, Iowa.
Bob was a farmer for 45 years, a salesman for Archer Oil for over 20 years and worked for Washington County Secondary Roads for over 14 years. He also worked for Iowa Bridge and Culvert and C.W. Sitton. He was also a custodian, bus driver and bus mechanic for Highland High School. Bob served honorably in the National Guard for 21 years. He started the Riverside Boy Scouts Troop 235 along with Butch Slaughter and Ron Eckrich and received the Scout Master Award in 1990. Bob enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and raising sheep. He loved his IH and riding in tractor parades. His greatest love though, was his family.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jacobs of Ainsworth, IA; daughter, Jennifer Simmons and husband Travis of Tiffin, IA; son, Bobby Jacobs and special friend, Lisa of Cedar Rapids, IA; daughter, Michelle Schuerer and husband Rayme of Amana, IA; daughter, Tara Vancebrock and husband Tim of Russell, IA; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Ron Jacobs and wife Paula of Columbus Junction, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Lacetta Jacobs; and brother, Roger Jacobs.
