Robert Evan Jones, age 88, of Wellman, Iowa, died Thursday, November 26, 2015, at the Washington County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 30, 2015, at the Prairie Flower Baptist Church in rural Washington, Iowa. Calling hours will begin noon Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been designated for Robert's passions in ministry and civic organizations. Robert was born October 28, 1927, in Crawfordsville, Iowa, the son of Hugh and Bessie (Rees) Jones. He attended school in Crawfordsville and graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1945. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1945 – 1946. Robert was united in marriage to Marjorie Gamon on March 8, 1952, at the Prairie Flower Baptist Church in rural Washington, Iowa.

He farmed all of his married life in the Prairie Flower Community. He worked at a hog buying station and enjoyed all aspects of farming. Robert was an active member of Prairie Flower Baptist Church serving various church committees, teaching Sunday school, and driving the Church Bus. He was one of the hosts of the Farm Progress Show in 1977. Robert's passion in life was serving his Lord. He was active in the Continental Baptist Mission Board, the Iowa Regular Baptist Church Camp Board, and Campus Bible Fellowship. He served in various offices of Iowa Farm Bureau and was a member of the Interstate Producer Livestock Association. He attended Lending Hands the past several years and received services from Iowa City Hospice. Robert enjoyed playing checkers and spending time with his family.

Robert is survived by his wife, Marjorie I. Jones of Wellman, Iowa; three daughters, Rita Luers and husband Edwin of Keota, Iowa; Linda Jones of West Dundee, Illinois; and Marsha Jones of Wellman, Iowa; four grandchildren, Lora Banister and husband Joel of Somonauk, Illinois; Lisa Van Der Molen and husband Will of Altoona, Iowa; Lynnae Callison and husband Shane of Ventura, Iowa; and Will Luers and wife Melissa of Keota, Iowa; 13 great grandchildren, Myranda and Titus Banister; Evan, Sadie, Elisabeth and Sawyer Van Der Molen; Cayden, Carson and Chase Robert Callison; and Anna, Will S., Isaiah and Belle Luers. He is also survived by two brothers, Lester R. Jones and wife Marion of Crawfordsville, Iowa; and John Harold Jones of Crawfordsville, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Willis R. Jones; two brothers, Thomas Jones and wife Lois, William H. Jones and wife Phyllis; an infant sister, Margaret Jones; and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Jones.
