Obituary

Robert H. Logan, age 83, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 01, 2014, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington following a short illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2014, at the United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Visitation will begin 11:00 a.m. Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday. Masonic Lodge services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Robert Helmer Logan was born November, 28, 1930, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Clarence Maxwell "Mike" and Marion (Helmer) Logan. Bob attended school in Washington and graduated from Washington High School. He attended Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois for one year. Bob was united in marriage to Bernice Jean Stika on February 9, 1956, in Iowa City, Iowa.
Bob went to work with his dad at Klein Klothing Kompany in 1949. He later owned and operated the clothing store until 1979. In 1980, Bob went to work at the Washington State Bank as a bank teller, a position he held until retiring in 1995. He later worked part time for the Washington State Bank running the satellite banks at the United Presbyterian Home and Halcyon House until one month ago.

Bob was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Washington, Iowa. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 26, the K.A.A.B.A. Shrine and the Washington Rotary Club. For nearly 50 years, Bob recorded Washington's daily weather for the National Weather Service.
Bob is survived by daughter, Margaret Logan of North Liberty, Iowa; daughter, Kathryn MacCrea and husband Douglas of Ames, Iowa; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one sister, Joyce Bowman of Deadwood, South Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernice, in January of 2014; and one sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Lantz.
