Robert Eugene "Bob" Arbogast, age 72, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, July 11, 2014, at his residence following a battle with cancer.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will begin noon Tuesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Interment with military honors will take place at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton, Iowa. Bob was born August 26, 1941, in Coppock, Iowa, the son of James Lloyd and Lois Irene (Spohn) Arbogast. He attended school in Coppock, Iowa, and graduated from Wayland High School. Bob was united in marriage to Marie (Bush) Lemons on July 17, 1964 in Brighton, Iowa.
Bob was a semi truck driver for Sinn Trucking in Wayland, Iowa. He later worked at Modine Manufacturing until his retirement in 2004. Following his retirement he worked part time at the Washington County Mini Bus.
Bob served honorably in the United States Marine Corp from 1958 until 1962. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the Crawfordsville American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and watching sports. Bob was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeye fan.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Arbogast of Washington, Iowa; son, Jack Lemons and special friend Sheryl Stalder of Washington, Iowa; 8 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Ray Arbogast of Wayland, Iowa; brother, Lee Arbogast and wife Sheila of Tacoma, Washington; brother, Dan "Doc" Arbogast and wife Alice of Sumner, Washington; and sister, Jean Payne and husband Richard of Burlington, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bruce Lemons; two brothers, Max and Larry "Smoke" Arbogast; and two sisters, Wilma Lowry and Karen Swift.
