Robert Earl "Bob" Anderson, age 65, of Brighton, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025, following a sudden illness.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Dexter officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Private family interment will take place at a later date. A general memorial has been established. Bob was born November 17, 1960, in Fairfield, Iowa, the son of Merlyn and Emma Kay (Smith) Anderson. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1980 and graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College with his Bachelor Degree in Secondary Education.

Bob taught one year at the Catholic School in Bellevue, Iowa and one year in Hedrick, Iowa. He was a substitute teacher in the WACO, Mid-Prairie, Pekin, and Highland School Districts. Bob also worked at the Brucemoore House and at a Daycare in Mt. Pleasant. He helped on the family farm for many years.

Bob loved baseball and was the Little League Coach in Lockridge and East Pleasant Plain for many years. He coached high school baseball in Keota, Iowa; and coached football and track at Hedrick. Bob played slow pitch softball on the Germanville team for several years. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football fan and would have been ecstatic with the recent bowl victory. He followed the Chicago Bears, Iowa Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals.

He is survived by his brother, Richard (Kim Mehlenbacher) Anderson of Marshalltown, Iowa; five nieces and nephews: Ranee (Alan) Fladung of Washington, Iowa; Alisha Hird of Washington, Iowa; Kaleen Hird of El Segundo, California; Erin (Mark) Ridnour of State Center, Iowa; Kristin (Sam Gathje) Anderson of Rochester, Minnesota; three great nieces and nephews: David Fladung of Wellman, Iowa; Amelia Fladung of Washington, Iowa; Weston Ridnour of State Center, Iowa; and a great great niece, Brier Fladung of Washington, Iowa.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roger Anderson (2006) and Roy Anderson (2019); and three sisters, Phyllis Hird (2013), Elaine Anderson (2013) and Kathleen Anderson (2024).
