Richard Dean McFarland, age 91, of Ainsworth, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at his residence.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home, with Pastor Denny Coon officiating. The family will receive friends at the Ainsworth Community Church following the service. Interment will take place at Oregon Township Cemetery at a later date. Dick was born on November 2, 1934, in Ainsworth, Iowa, the son of Robert E. and Katherine (Klockenga) McFarland. He graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1952. Dick was united in marriage to Bebe J. Fullerton on June 24, 1956, in Columbus City, Iowa.

Dick worked at BP Feeds in Iowa City for 35 years. In his free time, he enjoyed yardwork, bowling, and caring for his dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Bebe McFarland of Ainsworth, Iowa; son, Jon E. (Karen) McFarland of Coralville, Iowa; son, Rick D. (Pam) McFarland of Texas; daughter, DeAnn (Kenny) Lorack of Riverside, Iowa; grandchildren: James R. McFarland Jr., Daryl J. McFarland, Elayna McFarland, Benjamin J. McFarland (Hannah Ehrlich), Cassie K. (Ricky) Vazquez, R. Wayne McFarland, Thomas Clifton, Nick Clifton, Jessica (Nathan) Krotz, Kendrick J. Sojka, Lisa Taylor, and Brad Lorack; along with many great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Butch Morgan and Ronald (Sue) Fullerton; and many nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; son, James R. McFarland; six brothers: Walter, Lloyd, Robert, James, Jack, and Bill McFarland; and four sisters: Irene Hawkins, Phyllis Lopshire, Delores Coleman, and Wilma Humphreys.
