Obituary

Richard Glen Lord, age 82, of Ainsworth, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Halcyon House in Washington.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Ainsworth Community Church, with Pastor Jason Collier officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment with military honors will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery. Richard was born on October 24, 1942, in Washington, Iowa, the son of James Glen and Alice Marie (Mundt) Lord. He graduated from Ainsworth High School and later attended Muscatine Community College. Richard served honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

Richard's work took him to Madagascar and Greece, and over the years, he lived in several cities, including San Diego, Baltimore, Kansas City, El Segundo, and Denver. In 1974, Richard returned to Ainsworth, where he spent many years farming. He was an adjunct member of the American Legion and a dedicated member of the Ainsworth Community Church, where he served on the Pastor Council as an Elder. Richard also served as chairman of the Oregon Township Republican Caucus and as secretary of the Oregon Township Cemetery Association. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed reading books and practicing basketball with the Iowa Hawkeyes and many area kids.

He is survived by his brother, Thomas Lord of Lakewood, Colorado; his sister, Sarah "Betty" Anders of Muscatine, Iowa; and his sister-in-law, Linda Lord of Ainsworth, Iowa; nephews, Jim and Jon Lord and niece, Jodi Long, all of Lakewood, Colorado; nephew, Greg Anders of Muscatine, Iowa; nephew, Matt Lord of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; nephew, Robert Lord of Solon, Iowa; and niece, Joyce Lord of Riverside, Iowa.

Richard was preceded in death by parents and his brother, George Lord.
