Relden Clarence Jarrard, age 83, of Washington, Iowa, died Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Parkview Home in Wayland, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at the Marion Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Joseph Brown officiating. Calling hours will begin 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 Tuesday evening. Interment with military honors will take place at the Keota Cemetery in Keota, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Marion Avenue Baptist Church for the Bus Ministry or a general memorial. Relden was born February 13, 1939, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Clarence Walter and Phyllis Arlene (Reeves) Jarrard. He graduated from Washington High School in 1957. Relden was united in marriage to Kay Marie Bennett on July 5, 1959, in Washington, Iowa.
Relden was a life long resident of Washington where he was a truck driver for Heartland Express until his retirement in 2004. Relden served honorably in the Army National Guard for four years. He was an active member of the Marion Avenue Baptist Church.
He is survived by son, Michael Relden Jarrard of Iowa City, Iowa; daughter, Michelle Kay Potter and husband Raymond of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Tara Jean Lord and husband David of Washington, Iowa; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Cathy Wood and husband Jim of Washington, Iowa; brother, Don Jarrard and wife Marsha of Charles City, Iowa; sister, Connie Jarrard of Washington, Iowa; sister-in-law, Connie Cheney of Washington, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Relden was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kay; daughter—in-law, Mary Jarrard; grandson, Cody Jarrard; two brothers-in-law, Gary Bennett and Larry Cheney; and sister-in-law, Pat Bennett.
