Raymond LeRoy Hammen, age 85, of Washington, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Sunrise Terrace Nursing Home in Winfield, Iowa.
Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Father Bernie Weir officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Interment with military honors will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery. LeRoy was born August 3, 1934 in Keokuk County, Iowa, the son of Raymond N. and Mildred Lucille (Dunbar) Hammen. He graduated from Washington High School in 1953. LeRoy served honorably in the United States Army from 1956-1958.
LeRoy farmed his entire life. He farmed with his dad until his retirement and then went on to be a farm hand for several farmers. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, Winga's Coffee Club and the Washington YMCA. He enjoyed word search puzzles, taking trips, visiting with people and watching Westerns and the Iowa Hawkeyes on T.V.
He is survived by his sister, Joyce J. Marie of Washington, IA; nephews: Joe (Linda) Marie and Don (Jackie) Marie; nieces: Jean (Randy) Wehr, Linda (Randy) Finke, Marsha (Ken) Long and Peggy (Gary) Roberts; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and brother-in-law, Bob Marie.
