Phyllis Ann McConnell, age 87, of Washington, Iowa, died June 12, 2022, at the United Presbyterian Home. Phyllis was born February 26, 1935, in Washington, the daughter of Charles and Edith (Carr) McConnell.

Phyllis graduated from Washington High School, then earned her Bachelor's degree at the University of Sioux Falls in South Dakota as well as a Master's Degree in education at the University of Iowa. She taught school in the Iowa City area for two years.

Phyllis then moved to Waynesboro, Virginia, where she served as Administrative Assistant at the University of Science and Philosophy. Phyllis was honored with a plaque for "a lifetime of faithful, hard-working service" to that University. Phyllis also spent countless hours maintaining the beautiful flower gardens at the University.

She is survived by her sister Enid (John) Runft of Boise, Idaho, two nieces and one nephew.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Wendell McConnell.

No services are planned per her wishes. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family.
