Phyllis Jeanette Lopshire, age 91, of Ainsworth, Iowa, died Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the English Valley Nursing Care Center in North English, Iowa.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth with Pastor Jason Collier officiating. Interment will be at Oregon Township Cemetery. A general memorial has been established. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Phyllis was born April 1, 1923, in Washington County, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Katherine (Klockenga) McFarland. She attended school in Ainsworth. Phyllis was united in marriage to Robert "Zack" James Lopshire on November 28, 1945 in Ainsworth, Iowa.

Phyllis worked for the American Pearl Button Factory and Advanced Ross Manufacturing in Washington for many years and at Sheller-Globe in Iowa City until her retirement in 1988. Her favorite times were with family, fishing, playing cards or just visiting. Family was the foundation of her life. She left school in the 9th grade to help raise her siblings. When raising her three children, she also found room in her heart and home for relatives and friends. As Phyllis' health declined, her granddaughter, Terri, and great-grandchildren, Cassie and Zack, continued to live with and care for her. They provided the same loving home that Phyllis had provided for others.

Phyllis is survived by her son, Jim Lopshire and wife Denise of Lancaster, CA; son, Bill Lopshire and wife Cyndie of Riverside, IA; granddaughter, Terri Hansen of Ainsworth, IA; great-granddaughter, Cassie McAtee and husband Chris of Ainsworth, IA; great-grandson, Zack Hansen of Ainsworth, IA; great-great granddaughter Lilah McAtee of Ainsworth, IA; brother, Dick McFarland and wife Bebe of Ainsworth, IA; sister, Delores Coleman and husband Ben of Tuscaloosa, AL; and sister Wilma Humphreys and husband Dale of Minot, ND.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994, her daughter, Karen in 2003,her parents, six brothers and one sister.
