Obituary

Peggy J. Miksch, age 59, of Washington, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the Great River Hospice Center after failing in health since October 30th.
Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Colton Clay and Rev. Dan McClure officiating. Visitation will begin noon Friday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 Friday evening. Interment will take place at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Washington County Fairground Improvements or Washington High School Scholarship Fund. Peggy was born November 6, 1953 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Edward Charles and Dorothy (Putman) Chabal. She was raised on the Knotek Farm. As a girl, she was active in 4-H and showed pigs at the County and State Fairs. She was crowned Washington County Pork Queen. She graduated from Mid Prairie High School in 1971. While in high school, Peggy was an avid baton twirler. Peggy went on to study at Iowa State, and later graduated from Kirkwood Community College with a degree in Floral Design. On April 20, 1974 Peggy was united in marriage to Allen Miksch in Washington, Iowa.
Peggy lived on a farm southeast of Washington for thirty-nine years, and raised two children, Louie and Molly. She had been employed as a floral designer at Hy-Vee Floral for the last ten years. She was previously employed by Wolf Floral for twenty-eight years, and also at Bezdex Flowers in Marion, Iowa.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Washington. She was active in the Iowa Youth Quarter Horse Association and was a Past Youth Advisor. Peggy was also an antique collector; she loved going to antique shows and the Old Threshers Reunion. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the time spent with her grandson. She will be remembered as being very caring, and as being the most giving, loving person who always thought of everyone else before herself; as well as a devoted wife and mother.
She is survived by husband Allen Miksch of Washington; son Louie Miksch and wife Christina of Washington, Iowa; daughter Molly Miksch and fiance Jason Johnson of Washington, Iowa; one grandson: Jayden Miksch of Washington, Iowa, and one granddaughter, expected in February; mother Dorothy Chabal of Washington, Iowa; brother, William Edward Chabal and wife Karen of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; two nieces and two nephews; and mother-in-law, Georgia Miksch of Washington, Iowa.
Peggy was preceded in death by her father Ed Chabal in 2009, grandparents Bill and Gladys Putman; one uncle, Bill Putman; and father-in-law, Lloyd Miksch.
