Pauline June Schuessler, age 79, of Washington, Iowa, died suddenly on Thursday, August 7, 2014, in Washington.
Celebration of life services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington. Calling hours will begin 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Pauline was born July 3, 1935, in Lanesboro, Iowa, the daughter of Roger and Mary (Finn) Gilligan. She graduated from Johnston High School in 1953. Pauline was united in marriage to David R. Schuessler on September 12, 1953, in Trenton, Missouri.
Pauline has lived in Washington, Iowa, since 1993. She was a homemaker and worked for a time as a Certified Nurses Aide. In her earlier days, she was a singer in a Country Western Band. She enjoyed reading and doing embroidery.
She is survived by five children; daughter, Vicky Nelson and husband Dennis of Van Meter, Iowa; son, Dwight Schuessler and wife Barbara of Iowa, City, Iowa; son Steven Schuessler and wife Nicki of Wausau, Wisconsin; daughter, Carol Gyergyo and husband David of Cedar Park, Texas; son Dennis Schuessler and wife Jacqueline of Johnston, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters and three brothers.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1999; and one daughter, Virginia Bobbitt in 2014.
